Eng. Ayman Abdel Wahab met with HE President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali of Tunisia, presenting him with the Special Olympics International Award as a token of appreciation on the movement’s 40th anniversary.

The meeting coincided with the annually-celebrated Education Day in Tunisia, and was attended by a number of the Tunisian Governments’ high officials along with SO figures. Tunisia’s Prime Minister,Head of the Tunisian Parliament, other political officials, SOMENA Programs Development Manager, and President of SO Tunisia Twafik Al Sherif all attended the meeting.
During the meeting, SOMENA Managing Director delivered a speech commending the Tunisian President’s support of individuals with intellectual disabilities in Tunisia. Stressing this, Abdel Wahab asserted that Tunisia has been displaying outstanding achievements in all sports competitions at the regional and international levels thanks to the concern given by the Tunisian leadership to such individuals. He further highlighted that the Tunisian President’s concern originating from a genuine humane thought by a man who has concrete faith in the crucial importance of investment in the human factor through development. Praising such orientation by Tunisia, represented in its President, Abdel Wahab praised the law recently enacted in Tunisia concerning the support of individuals with disabilities and helping them to be involved in the social and economic day-to-day life of their community.
On his part, HE President Ali delivered a speech in which he expressed gratitude to Eng. Ayman Abdel Wahab over the SO International Award. He also commended the SO movement describing its activity on the cultural and sports levels to serve individuals with intellectual disabilities worldwide as noble.
